Atheist Alliance International relies on and appreciates the assistance of a range of contributors to its operations and activities.
Clifton Carl Barbara (News Team - Europe)
Clifton Carl Barbara holds firm liberalism views including freedom from organised religion, of speech, press and sex-orientation. Brought-up in Malta where the Roman Catholic Church benefits from an ‘untouchable’ position to influence laws and state. He believes that human lives and rights can greatly improve with reason and logic instead of folkloristic mythology.
Roger Chao (Communications Team)
Roger Chao is a social and policy researcher, managing numerous Government, NGO, and University research projects. In his spare time he also works as an independent scholar, publishing in and reviewing for journals in the field of ethics and philosophy of religion. He has been active in the secular community since the early 2000s and his extensive travels around the world, and passion for the outdoors have helped cement his secular outlook on life.
Esteban Cortés (News Team - South America excl. Brazil)
Ritalin kid, noisy and restless. He was the little kid asking the uncomfortable questions in religion class at school. Secular humanist and atheist. Currently studying kinesiology at a science-focused university. Interests vary from producing music, djing and extreme sports to books, science and religious issues. Loves a drink once in a while and hangs out at twitter @Aster_Eben_Scot.
Matt Kovach (Social Media Coordinator)
Matt Kovach previous ran his own business as a hairstylist, but today considers himself a habitual volunteer and activist. He has volunteered for AAI since before its separation in 2011 and is currently also a volunteer with Responsible Charity. Matt's motto is "Two hands working can do more than a thousand hands clasped in prayer".
Joshua M. (News Team - North America)
Recommended at a young age by his sister to “never do anything that you find easy, because it’ll eventually bore you,” Joshua studied astronomy and astrophysics at Indiana University, earning his bachelor degree in 2000. Deciding after that experience that sometimes doing something difficult for the sake of its difficulty is not its own reward, he sought a career he considered easy. Inexplicably and after very little consideration, he settled on retail management. After spending several years semi-successfully working his way up the managerial ladder, Joshua decided that it was difficult in its own way to spend a career worrying about things such as whether wet or dry dog food would sell better on a feature. Realizing that sometimes doing something easy for the sake of its ease isn't its own reward, either, he has since returned to university life to study English composition. He is currently considering graduate schools. In his spare time, he can be found attempting to play the ukulele, chasing his growing and patient family from one room of their house to the next asking, “Does that sound alright?”, “How does that sound?”, or, “It’s getting better. Right?”
Tom Melchiorre (Editor, Secular World magazine)
Tom Melchiorre is the owner of Write Edit Publish Inc. and a freelance general-interest and science/technical writer and editor. In addition, he provides reporting, consulting and book editing services across a wide variety of topics as well as publication design and public/media relations to major corporations, news media, nonprofits, government agencies and individuals locally, nationally and internationally.
Christopher Myrick (Communications Team)
Christopher Myrick has worked in international journalism and corporate communications for more than a dozen years, primarily serving for international news agencies and corporations within East Asia. He currently is based in Toronto, Canada, providing editorial and communications services for major financial institutions, as well as speechwriting and consulting services to global clients.
Alexandre F. Shimono (News Team - Brazil)
A graduate in computer engineering from the University of São Paulo, Alexandre is an artificial inteligence, technology and science enthusiast. His disbelief in the supernatural increased as his understanding of what science stands for and the way it works grew. As he grew older and noticed how religion still has political influence, standing against science and individual freedom most of the time, his decision to fight for human rights and reason against blind belief was quite easy.
Jake Stollery (Graphic Design)
As a passionate thinker, creative and technologist, Jake Stollery consumes his energy exploring the space between the beautiful and the binary. Besides working across fashion, music and lifestyle brands, he is a passionate atheist and thinks that a better world is one where religion no long hiders the progress of humanity :)
Zach (News Team - Middle East)
Former Orthodox Jew and IDF veteran, Zach is completing his B.A. in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies in Israel. Raised in the prototypical assimilated Jewish home in Los Angeles, Zach found religion at a very young age, and embarked on a 10 year journey from California sun to Jerusalem stone. After years of immersion in severely religious ritual, Zach left the synagogue behind. Now, as an outsider in the Holy Land, Zach seeks to expand atheism's role in the public arena. He is planning to continue graduate studies in International Law.
