Welcome

Freethinkers of Northern Colorado (FNC) (formerly Atheists of Northern Colorado) is dedicated to the separation of Church and State and to presenting a positive view of atheism to our local community and to the world. We provide a place for you and your familes to get together and socialize, to engage in activism, and gain emotional support -- to help freethinkers and atheists feel less isolated in a predominately religious world.

Our specific goals are to promote the separation of church and state, ensure that our voice is heard in political and social issues, encourage atheist and charitable activism by our members, and educate the general public about the natures of freethinking, atheism and religion.

As a minority group in the U.S., freethinkers and atheists are often misunderstood. The mythologized view of atheists is that we are bitter anti-religionists. Yet this is far from the truth. We are misunderstood primarily because there aren't enough of us out there promoting positive atheism.

Help us make a difference! New members are warmly welcomed.

FNC is affiliated with the Atheist Alliance and with the Council for Secular Humanism.

'Christians demonize us,' Mathewson said. 'They assume we have no morals. They think we have horns on our heads and carry around pitchforks. They might be surprised to find out we’re just regular people.'"
