Atheist Alliance International is working with the Brighter Brains Institute to start a vanilla bean farm in Uganda for older students. The farm is a project of Pearl Vocational Academy which teaches working skills to older students. Many of these students are women who were forced to stop their education to get married at an early age. The Academy is based on Humanist principles and critical thinking is part of their curriculum.

The school wants to start up a vanilla bean farm both as a source of income and to provide agricultural skills to the students. They’ve cleared the bush and built the fence. Now they need to start growing the vanilla beans.

The school is asking for $800 US to complete the project.

The vanilla bean farm will not only teach skills to students, it will provide income to support other programs. The revenue earned from this project will go to the purchase of sewing machines and candle making machines that will allow more students to gain valuable working skills.
